2023 McArthur Ridge Southern Tor Pinot Noir

McArthur Ridge sits out in Alexandra, one of the driest and coldest corners of Central Otago. The vineyards are windswept and stony, giving small bunches and thick-skinned berries that make for bright, structured Pinot. Southern Tor is their main label – classic Alexandra fruit handled in a clean, modern way.The 2024 season was mild and steady, giving balanced ripeness and plenty of flavour without pushing alcohol. The fruit was hand-picked, fermented in small batches and aged in French oak, mostly older barrels, to keep the focus on the fruit.It’s a straight, well-made Pinot – red cherry, a touch of spice, firm tannin and a dry, tidy finish. Nothing showy, just solid Central Otago Pinot from people who know their site inside out.
