What a great opportunity to try a fantastic Australian Shiraz at 50 % off the regular price. Andrew Thomas’ “Kiss” bottling hits all the right notes with its combination of fresh fruit framed by perfectly-judged oak and silky smooth tannins. We were struck by the balance and complexity of this wine, which is a textbook example of what many winemakers from down under have been working to achieve. The trend is towards wines that show a fresh fruit profile with moderate alcohol levels. This Shiraz is in a great spot and drinking perfectly right now. Wine Critic James Halliday agrees, awarding this wine 96 Points!
The grapes for this wine are sourced from Andrew Thomas’ single vineyard of 45 year old vines. He prefers to harvest a little earlier than his neighbors to achieve perfect balance. The Hunter Valley is a sunny region cooled by ocean breezes drawn into the valley. This is similar to the cooling effect Napa Valley experiences from San Pablo Bay and results in nicely ripened grapes with expressive fruit. Andrew Thomas strives for elegance and harmony in his wines and we love the results.
Enjoy this delicious drinking Shiraz at a price that is compelling. Quantities are limited so don’t hesitate to order. First come, first served.
Medium ruby with purple highlights. Bright red fruit, blackberry, and currants are enhanced with enticing notes of baking spices and vanilla from the 16 months of aging in French oak. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with smooth tannins and lifted flavors of fresh cherry, black raspberry, red and black currants and vanilla. The wine finishes with elegance and balance.
JAMES HALLIDAY 96 POINTS – “Outstanding colour and clarity; pays equal homage to its variety and region, elegance and complexity likewise having equal say, the red and black fruits woven through with fine, silky tannins; has perfect length and balance to guarantee a very long life.”
