This is the second bottling in the Old Orkney series. This one is a 2004 refill hogshead, bottled at 19 years of age with several degrees of reduction to 53%.
This is slightly less peaty than the first bottling, but no less evocative or powerful, and indeed the extra maturity brings a richness and depth to this whisky that is hugely satisfying.
It is full of heather and honey notes, waxes, coastal flowers and a subtle but clear flavour of Orkney peat on the palate. All rounded and polished by an excellent level of maturity in a gentle refill wood.
