The 2022 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru definitely leans into the richer style, perhaps later picked than its peers, with acacia honey, beeswax and light tropical scents of guava and pineapple. Does it deliver the nobility? Not quite. One questions whether there is some botrytis here. The palate is juicy on the entry, waxy-textured, with plenty of dry extract (more than its peers), though it needs more complexity on the finish. Yet overall, this is very harmonious and it has potential. Give it another three or four years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
