The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Gain 1er Cru has a honeyed nose with figgy, peachy, guava notes jumbled with vanilla pod. A bit…OTT. The palate is actually better balanced with a keen line of acidity, but it does miss some freshness. Pithy on the finish, fine texture and it does improve in the glass. Tricky one to pin down! Bottled under Diam 30. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
