  • TASTING NOTE: The 2021 Barolo Ginestra Casa Matè is fabulous. Bright and transparent, with captivating depth, the 2021 is a stunning beauty. Enveloping balsamic notes make a strong opening statement that remains a theme here. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and blood orange all come alive in the glass. What a wine! (Drink between 2029-2041)97 Points – Antonio Galloni, Vinous
  • ABOUT THE WINE: The vinification procedure for Casa Maté® Barolo Docg Ginestra involves alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with daily pumping over. After completing malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in 25-hectolitre barrels of Slavonian oak. Bottling normally takes place in August. The Casa Maté® Barolo Docg Ginestra then stays in the binning cellar for 8-10 months before release.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Grasso family has been grape growers for years, though did not start producing wine until 1978. Elio Grasso produces wines exclusively from estate owned grapes. They farm 18 hectares of vineyard in the Monforte commune of Barolo. Since 1978, they have separately vinified and bottled the grapes of various vineyard plots, resulting in a selection of top quality fruit. In addition to growing Nebbiolo for their Barolos, they also grow Barbera, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay.
