The Gianfranco Alessandria 2022 Barolo is polished, fruit-forward and balanced, with vibrant cherry and blackcurrant on first nose. This wine definitely starts off on the right foot, aromatically speaking, and follows through with good structure and a medium- to full-bodied texture. Aged for 24 months in barrique, only 10% of which is new oak, it shows a level of accessibility that is very much in line with the vintage. I am enjoying many of the 2022s, especially classic expressions such as this one, despite a bit more grit on the tannins. The wine remains harmonious throughout, offering immediate appeal without sacrificing its Nebbiolo character. This had a production of 15,000 bottles.
