Glengoyne 12 Year Old comes from a distillery with a foot in two worlds: the stills sit in the Highlands at the foot of Dumgoyne hill, while the warehouses across the road lie in the Lowlands. Founded in 1833 and owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, Glengoyne is famous for two things, the slowest distillation in Scotland and a total absence of peat, which together produce an exceptionally clean, fruity spirit.
Matured in a mix of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 86 proof, the 12 Year is bright and fruity: ripe apricot, peach, pear, blackcurrant and floral notes on the nose, then a gently peppery palate of sweet fruit, toffee and a hint of chocolate, finishing with malt, citrus zest and milk chocolate.
