Imperio del Don 10 Year Extra Añejo Tequila is a single-barrel, single-batch tequila aged a full ten years in oak, bottled at 42% ABV. A decade in wood gives it a deep mahogany color and a profile closer to a fine cognac or aged whiskey than a typical tequila: dried fig, toffee, dark chocolate, tobacco, and toasted oak, with the cooked agave still present underneath. The palate is rich and velvety, finishing long and warm.
Extra añejo tequilas need only three years in barrel to earn the name, so a ten-year expression like Imperio del Don is a rare, collector-level pour. It is meant to be sipped neat from a snifter, ideally after dinner.
