Product Overview

Winery’s Notes“The fruit for this Syrah was harvested from several vineyards surrounding our winery in the Arroyo Seco AVA. This AVA is recognized as having the longest growing season in California. Strong daily winds that bring cool fog from the Monterey Bay allow the grapes to spend more time on the vine building flavor, complexity and acidity. Extremely rocky well-drained alluvial soils are the base for creating wines processing freshness & minerality. The combination of sand, granite, and shale loam soils with the ever present marine influence provide the ideal conditions for growing cool climate Syrah.

94 Points, “Editors’ Choice” – Wine Enthusiast“This is a zesty style of Syrah, starting with its light color and extending across the aromas of elderberry sorbet, crushed peppercorn and fresh peppermint that show on the nose. The palate is bright and juicy, moving from just-plucked berries to complex herbal flavors.” -MK, 10/1/25

91 Points – Vinous“The 2023 Syrah (Arroyo Seco) is a more red-fruited, energetic style of the variety that stays light on its feet from start to finish—almost Gamay-like in its peppery floral character. Plum, cranberry, pomegranate, rose and cinnamon gently lift from the glass, turning savory as it approaches the finish. Bright acidity and lift from the 60% whole clusters keep this refreshing and bright. This is a crushable red, even better with a light chill.” -BN, Aug/2024

88 Points – Wine Advocate“The 2023 Syrah opens with a spry, harmonious nose of green olive and dried flower aromas against a backdrop of delicate purple fruits. The palate is light-bodied and a touch dilute, concluding with a savory yet slightly clipped finish.” -ML, 10/24/24
