Michter’s traces its name to Shenk’s, the 1753 Pennsylvania distillery; Joseph Magliocco revived the brand in Kentucky, built the Shively distillery and Fort Nelson downtown, and master distiller Dan McKee runs the most expensive process in bourbon — 103-proof barrel entry, the lowest in Kentucky, custom toasted-then-charred eighteen-month air-dried barrels, and heat-cycled warehouses.
