The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Demoiselles 1er Cru has a richer, more honeyed bouquet than de Montille’s Le Cailleret. Scents of meringue, yellow plum and just a hint of nougat in the background, though it is well defined and focused, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced and feels slightly later picked in style, spicy with touches of stem ginger and lemongrass, just a little feisty with a dab of alcohol towards the finish. Time will need to tame this. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
