Redemption 10 Year Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey is the aged, uncut showpiece of the Redemption line, the brand that helped kick off the modern rye revival when it launched in 2010 as one of the first labels to proudly put Indiana-distilled rye on the shelf. This limited release is a ten-year-old straight rye from MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, made from the classic 95% rye and 5% malted barley mash bill and bottled at barrel proof, 116.2 proof, non-chill filtered with natural color.
The Whiskey Jug rated it 4.5 out of 5 and called it the profile that made classic MGP ryes so sought-after: oak, complex dilly spice, baking flour, dried dark fruit, toffee and roasted nuts on the nose, oak and spice with grain sweetness on the palate, and a long finish of oak, spice and dark fruit with the musty depth of a well-aged bottle. The reviewer described it as bold, deep, dark and bursting with oaky spice and dark candied fruit, essential for serious rye enthusiasts, and noted a little water opens it up beautifully. Ten-year MGP rye is increasingly hard to find, and this is one of the best-priced examples.
