The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is made at Bruichladdich Distillery on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, in a 1959 Lomond still nicknamed Ugly Betty, rescued from the Inverleven distillery and fitted by Jim McEwan with a botanical chamber in its lyne arm. Nine classic botanicals, juniper, cassia, angelica, coriander, cinnamon, citrus peel, licorice and orris, steep overnight and then meet 22 hand-foraged Islay natives, including apple mint, heather, elderflower, bog myrtle, sweet cicely, wild thyme and clover, in a slow 17-hour distillation. It is bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) with no chill filtration.
