The Dalmore 18 Year Old is a magnificent expression from the Highland distillery founded in 1839 at Alness on the Cromarty Firth, famous for its twelve-point stag emblem and for master distiller Richard Paterson’s mastery of sherry wood. It is matured for fourteen years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished for four years in aged Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks from González Byass, exclusive to The Dalmore.
Bottled at 86 proof, it pours deep mahogany and offers chocolate orange, dried fruit, cinnamon and coffee on the nose, then a rich, velvety palate of dark chocolate, raisin, nutmeg, toffee and sherried oak, finishing long with lingering dark chocolate and spice. Presented in a wooden gift box with the silver stag, it is one of the most luxurious-looking 18-year-olds in Scotch and a landmark gift for a lover of rich, sherried whisky.
