Instead of mixing malt with cheaper grain whiskey, it combines 70% single malt with 30% single pot still, making it the only Irish blend made entirely from copper pot still distillates with no column-still grain at all. It is triple distilled, matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 40% ABV.
Leaving out the grain gives it far more flavor than a typical blend: honey, vanilla and orchard fruit on the nose, a rich, creamy palate of toffee, malt and the peppery spice of pot still whiskey, and a long, smooth finish. It sips well neat and makes a superior Irish coffee.
