The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with wonderful mineralité and tension, hints of Granny Smith and Petrichor. There is real energy coiled up in this Puligny. The palate is well-balanced with well integrated oak. It has a stylistic similarity to Sauzet’s Les Perrières, with real tension and poise. A sapid, malic finish lingers long in the mouth. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
